Following a 56-7 victory over Lamar that upped Sam Houston's current winning streak to five games, the Bearkats have moved up to No. 4 in both NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision national polls.
The two major polls are split in their picks for the nation's No. 1 FCS team. Georgia Southern is No. I in the NCAA Coaches Poll while defending national champion North Dakota State stands No. 1 in the Sports Network rankings.
Montana State, Sam Houston and Old Dominion rank third, fourth and fifth in both polls.
Last week Georgia Southern claimed a 39-31 triple-overtime win at Chattanooga Saturday. North Dakota State defeated Southern Illinois, 23-17.
Last week's No.1, Eastern Washington, fell to unranked Southern Utah.
Sam Houston is ranked among the top 10 in the nation for the 18th consecutive week and have stood among the top 20 for 21 straight weeks (since Sept. 9, 2011).
The Bearkats play host to Southeastern Louisiana Saturday at 2 p.m. at Elliott T. Bowers Stadium.
