Sam Houston State’s series opener against Southeastern Louisiana Friday has been postponed due to heavy rain in Louisiana.
The weather has forced the rescheduling of the entire Southland Conference series. The two teams will play a single game Saturday at 4 p.m. and the series concludes Sunday with a doubleheader beginning at 11:45 a.m.
The No. 28 Bearkats (31-17, 15-6) sit in first place in the Southland Conference and are just two games ahead of three teams tied for second. SHSU jumped into the NCAA Division I top 30 in the Collegiate Baseball Newpaper's weekly rankings.
The Lions (30-19, 13-8) took two-of-three games from Central Arkansas last weekend before being shut out, 9-0, by nationally ranked South Alabama. SLU is tied for second in the league with A&M-Corpus Christi and Oral Roberts.
The Bearkats will close out the regular season at home against Central Arkansas, May 16-18.
