Albert Miner carded a 78 as the Bearkat men’s golf team is sixth after the first round of the Southland Conference Men’s Golf Championships at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club in McKinney, Texas.
Miner is tied for 14th going into the second day of the championship on the par-72, 7346 yard Dye Course.
Sam Houston is 20 strokes back of the overall leaders Central Arkansas at 299. Southeastern Louisiana is second (301), Lamar is third (307), Stephen F. Austin is fourth (313), and Oral Roberts is fifth (317).
The Bearkats are ahead of Nicholls State (322) and McNeese State (325).
UCA’s James Newton is the overall leader at two-under par while SLU’s Rhys West is second at 73.
Chase Chapman is tied for 20th (79), Justin McKay is tied for 24th (80), JT Taylor is tied for 29th (82), and Logan Boatner is tied for 33rd (85).
