SHSU softball beaten 8-3 by Texas Tech

San Marcos – After jumping out to a three-run lead in the first inning, Sam Houston was over-powered by the long ball as Texas Tech defeated the Bearkats 8-3 at Bobcat Field Sunday morning.
Ashley Isbell hit a two-run single and Cecilia Castillo followed up with a one-run hit to score three unearned runs in the bottom of the first after a Texas Tech error.
After two scoreless innings, the Red Raiders exploded for four runs on two homes in the third and ended the day with 11 hits.
The contest was Sam Houston’s final game in the Texas Shootout hosted by Texas State in San Marcos. The Kats took home wins in two of their five games in the tournament.
Next action for the Bearkats will be a single game Wednesday in College Station against Texas A&M at 5 p.m. The Sam Houston softball team will play three games Friday and Sunday at the University of Texxas San Antonio.
