High scoring Central Arkansas invades Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum Thursday to take on Sam Houston's streaking men's basketball team in a Southland Conference contest at 7:45 p.m.

The Bears come into the game averaging 79.1 points per game, the second highest in the league this year.

"Central Arkansas has four players averaging in double figures. They can put some points on the board," SHSU head coach Jason Hooten. "They're going to give us a lot of challenges defensively."

Sam Houston stands 3-1 in Southland play so far this season. The Bearkats have won seven of their last eight games including road victories at Lamar and McNeese State last weekend.

Central Arkansas is looking for the first Southland Conference victory of the season. The Bears lost to the top two teams in the league last week at home (Stephen F. Austin, Northwestern State).

UCA is led by Robert Crawford with 15.8 points per game and LaQuentin Miles who adds 15.4.

Sam Houston has no players averaging double figures but has 10 that score at least 5.3 points per game. Nine different players have led the Bearkats in scoring in Sam Houston's 16 contests this year.

Darius Gatlin (9.3 points per game) and DeMarcus Gatlin (8.0) lead the SHSU men in scoring.

The Bears have never beaten the Bearkats (0-8 career) and are 0 for 6 since joining the Southland Conference. SHSU won 76-59 last year in Huntsville, hitting 24 of 36 free throws, compared to 8 of 14 for UCA.

UCA is the No. 2 three-point shooting team in the Southland. Crawford continues to lead the league in three-pointers made per game (3.2).
