COLLEGE STATION, TX -- Over 120 golfers turned out Monday at Pebble Creek Country Club for the Vic Schaefer Coaches With Character Golf Classic benefiting Hope Pregnancy Center of the Brazos Valley.

The tournament was a homecoming for Coach Schaefer who is now the Head Women's Basketball Coach at Mississippi State. Schaefer, who was an Associate Head Coach for the A&M women's basketball team until March, wasn't going to let a little distance get between himself and this worth while cause in Aggieland.

"What Hope Pregnancy does here in the Brazos Valley is tremendous," said Schaefer. "The support that we can raise today we're just glad to be a part of it."

Former Texas A&M and Mississippi State head football coach Jackie Sherrill was honored as the tournament's coach with character. Coach shared with the golfer's Monday that his adopted son Justin is one of Hope Pregnancy's true success stories.

"I have a son (Justin) if someone wouldn't have made the right choice then I wouldn't have been able to adopt him," said Sherrill. "My son is a living example of people having the opportunity to make a choice."

Tournament officials feel this year's tournament will raise between $35-40,000.
