Shawn Smith Ruled Ineligible for 2012-13 Season

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M men’s basketball head coach Billy Kennedy announced Saturday that freshman guard Shawn Smith has been ruled ineligible for the 2012-13 season.

The 6-foot-4 guard from Jacksonville, Fla., will remain with the program and be allowed to practice with the team while redshirting this season. He will return with four years of eligibility remaining.

The Aggies will host Incarnate Word in an exhibition contest at 7 p.m. tonight before officially tipping off the 2012-13 campaign Nov. 9 against Louisiana Tech at Reed Arena.
