Sumlin told reporters freshman wide receiver Thomas Johnson withdrew from school about a month ago and his future at Texas A&M in uncertain right now. "I think he is trying to decide where he is, if he is coming back next semester, if he is going to take the year off or is he is going to transfer." Sumlin added, "In my conversations with him that is where he is and just trying to figure out what his next step is going to be and we are going to support him in any of those three."

Johnson was reported missing on November 12 which was the Monday after Texas A&M beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Texas A&M University police traveled to Dallas and with help from the Dallas Police Department and the Texas Rangers Johnson was found safe in Dallas on at approximately 2:30 a.m on November 15.
