Texas A&M Men’s Basketball to Participate in Corpus Christi Challenge Next Season

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M men’s basketball team was selected to participate in the Corpus Christi Challenge over Thanksgiving weekend next season, the Corpus Christi Convention & Visitors Bureau announced this week.

Rounding out the field for the tournament are SMU, Virginia, Missouri State, Sam Houston State, Hampton, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Liberty.

“The Corpus Christi Challenge is going to be a great event,” Texas A&M head coach Billy Kennedy said. “It will give Aggie fans the chance to come out and see us play against some really quality opponents and challenge us to prepare for games in the SEC.”

Tournament play will include four games for each team with two games held at campus sites and two final games held at the American Bank Center Arena. Games will also be aired on national sports network television.

“We are excited to have this tournament and the opportunity to showcase our community,” CCCVB CEO Keith Arnold said. “Corpus Christi is not only a great place to visit, but is also growing as an amateur sports destination.”
