Texas A&M To Face South Carolina In SEC Soccer Quarterfinals

COLLEGE STATION, TX -- Texas A&M, the No. 2 seed and SEC Western Division champion, will open up its play at the 2012 SEC Women’s Soccer Tournament in Orange Beach, Ala., with a 12 p.m. contest against the South Carolina Gamecocks on Wednesday, Oct. 31.

South Carolina, the 2011 SEC Champion, kept its season alive with a 3-2 overtime win over the Arkansas Razorbacks in a first-round game on Monday afternoon.

Texas A&M won the regular-season match against South Carolina, 2-0, in College Station on Sep. 21. Meghan Streight and Annie Kunz scored goals in the victory while Jordan Day tallied a shutout between the pipes with one save.

The winner of the Texas A&M-South Carolina match will advance to the SEC Tournament semifinal game on Friday at 4 p.m. when they will face the winner of Wednesday afternoon’s match between Auburn and Tennessee.

Texas A&M enters play with a 16-3-1 overall mark and earned the No. 2 seed and division crown with 31 points on a 10-2-1 league mark. South Carolina is 7-9-4 and finished 3-7-3 in SEC play.
