COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Texas A&M’s Shane Vinsant was named the SEC Player of the Week earlier today after his successful weekend in Houston at the ITA Indoor Team Championships.

The Keller, Texas native, defeated No. 9 Patrick Pradella of Baylor 6-3, 6-2 on court two to open play at the ITA Championships. The win was the highest ranked victory in Vinsant’s young career, having previously bested the No. 46 player in the country in his freshman campaign.

The sophomore tandem of Vinsant and Harrison Adams helped the Aggies capture the doubles point in team victories over No. 22 Illinois and No. 14 Tennessee to conclude Texas A&M’s best finish in ITA Indoor Team Championship history.

With the win in Houston, Vinsant improved to 5-2 this spring in singles competition and 43-19 in his two seasons at A&M. Vinsant and Adams are now 8-3 this spring and 42-19 in their career.

Vinsant and the Aggies will head to Oklahoma next weekend for a Friday night match up with No. 34 Tulsa followed by a Sunday afternoon showdown with No. 7 Oklahoma. Stay tuned to AggieAthletics.com and follow @AggieMTEN on Twitter for coverage of Texas A&M men’s tennis.
