Texas State Sweeps Bearkats 3-0

HUNTSVILLE, Texas Sam Houston took an early 16-9 lead in the first set, but Texas State roared back to sweep to a three-set victory over the Bearkats in a non-conference volleyball match Tuesday at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.

The Bobcats, who have lost only one set in five consecutive victories this season, ended the evening with a 25-19 25-12 25-14 win. Sam Houston drops to 1-3.

Amari Deardorff led the Bobcats with 12 kills and a block for 13 points. Ashlee Hibun and Alexandra Simms each totaled nine kills.
Deveney Wells-Gibson had five kills for Sam Houston and Carling Urben, Breanna Homer, Haley Neisler and Krista Koopman added four kills apiece.

Tayler Gray assisted on 22 of Sam Houston’s 28 kills. She and Homer led the Kat defense with nine digs apiece.

After Texas State roared back to win 16 of the final 19 points in the first set, the Bobcats never trailed. Texas State hit .366 with 42 kills and only eight errors in 93 attempts.
