Texas A&M dropped rivalries with Texas Tech, Baylor and most notably Texas when they decided to move to the SEC.
That move left a void in their schedule on the last weekend of regular season when other SEC schools play their rivalry games.
A&M would love to have played LSU then, who they have the most history with of SEC teams, but instead will play the Tigers on October 20th.
So, with the Aggies leaving for a new conference and on a sour note with Texas it was assumed Missouri would become A&M's designated rival.
That changed this past weekend when rumors began to spread that South Carolina will no longer be Arkansas' cross-division rival. Instead the Gamecocks will be Texas A&M's newest rivalry game.
Texas A&M President, R. Bowen Loftin, confirmed the match-up on his twitter account Monday saying, "Just had a great conversation with the South Carolina president about our permanent SEC rivalry. We will make this very special!"
