BRENHAM, Texas -- Blinn College volleyball players Crystal Young and Alyssa LaMont garnered Region XIV player of the week honors for Sept. 9-13.
Young and LaMont helped lead Blinn past then-fourth ranked San Jacinto on Sept. 10 as the Buccaneers vaulted to the No. 1-ranked team in the nation the next day. In that match, the Bucs only match of the week, Young posted a match-high 53 assists. She added seven digs and two kills in the four-set win.
Young, a sophomore, was named the conference setter of the week. She has 477 assists on the season, good for 10.4 a set.
LaMont earned conference libero of the week honors after recorded 15 digs in the victory over San Jacinto. LaMont has recorded 187 digs this season (3.6 per set). It’s the second time this season she was awarded the honor.
The Bucs return to the court Friday at home at 6 p.m. against Coast Bend College and again at 1 p.m. Saturday against Laredo.
