AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Qunton Walker scored 20 points and his steal and layup with 32 seconds left put the game out of reach as Roxton beat Douglass 60-54 Saturday night for the Class 1A Division II state championship.
Walker scored the first six points of the fourth quarter as Roxton built a 51-35 lead. Douglass rallied behind three 3-pointers from Reed Westbrook to cut the lead to 54-49 in the final minute before Roxton was able to put the game away.
Roxton shot 55 percent in winning its first state title after losing the previous two years in the semifinals. Lester Green scored 17 points for Roxton (30-4).
Reed Westbrook scored 23 points and Bryce Westbrook scored 22 for Douglass (30-7). The brothers combined for all eight of Douglass's 3 pointers.
