The Rangers have lost three consecutive games, their longest losing streak since they lost seven in a row in April. The Twins scored two in the first and seven in the third inning off of Mathis, who was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in three relief appearances before making his first start. Pence, Sampson Pace Astros To 4-2 Win

Updated: 9:59 PM Both starting pitchers Tuesday night had one bad inning. Fortunately for the Astros, Chris Sampson's bump in the road was less costly than Ryan Dempster's, and as a result, Houston prevailed, 4-2. Sampson yielded a two-run homer to Aramis Ramirez in the fourth frame, but Hunter Pence returned the favor in the bottom of the inning, and with more runners on base. Pence knocked his second career grand slam, which turned out to be the difference-maker in this win before 33,339 fans -- most of whom were cheering for the Astros -- at Minute Maid Park.

The Wings have advanced to the Stanley Cup finals by grabbing a 4-0 lead in the first 24 minutes of a 4-1 win over Dallas in Game 6 of the Western Conference finals. Kris Draper opened the scoring just 3:45 into the game before Pavel Datsyuk added a power-play goal 8 minutes later. Henrik Zetterberg's short-handed tally made it 4-0 early in the second period.
