News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Heather Weir.
The A&M Consolidated High School senior has a 3.74 GPA, and is currently ranked in the top 20 percent in her class.
Heather is a member of the Lady Tiger varsity track and field team. She has been a pole vaulter since seventh grade. Heather's academic achievements includes her graduating from high school in 3 years and taking advanced classes. She's also involved in FFA, 4-H, NHS, and she is the Vice President of her Senior class.
Last year at the Brazos Valley Youth Livestock (BVYLS), her rabbits placed ninth overall. In FFA, Heather builds gates and judges livestock.
"She dose what is appropriate for the situation. So she quietly does the things she need to do and gets all of her work done. But she will step up and be vocal when she sees the need. So she's not the first person to speak up; but when she talks people listen, and she has a lot to say." says Grace Stanford, A&M Consolidated High School Teacher
"She's very self motivated. I don't know what that self motivation is. But shes very internally driven and she wants to do the best at everything it is. If she has to miss a practice to go work on Ag stuff; she's very dedicated to that as well. And then whenever she gets back, she wants to make up whatever it is that she missed. But shes very self motivated in everything that she does." says Randy Hooton, A&M Consolidated Pole Vault Coach
"I balance being a scholar athlete in many ways. I have grown to have really good time management skills. I'll devout certain hours where I know at this point in the time of day I know I'll be doing track stuff. I'll be working on form, working with pole vault, doing stuff that helps me get better at the pole vault. And then as soon as I get home, I know this is what I need to do for school. I have all the plan kind of made out in my head is this is what I need to get done by today... this one needs to get done by tomorrow...And just really prioritize my stuff by what needs to be done." says Heather Weir
After high school, Heather plans to attend Tarleton State University and major in Pre-Veterinarian Science.
Congratulations to Heather Weir of A&M Consolidated High School. This week's News 3 Sports Classroom Champion.
