News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Anna Norris. The Rudder High School senior has a 4.3 GPA, and is currently the valedictorian of her class.

Anna is a returning letterman for the Lady Ranger basketball team. Last season she won the Ranger Heart Award in basketball. Academically, she's a ,ember of the National Honor Society, FFA, PALS, Choir, and UIL. In choir, Anna was a State Qualifier for her Choir Solo. And in FFA, she was the Rookie of the Year for showing Commercial Steers, and she was also a State Qualifier for the Wool Judging Team. Anna is also very active in he community and her church's youth group.

"Anna's one of my hardest working students in Calculus. She's always got her work turned in on time. She's very respectful to other students and teachers from what I can tell. She doesn't use it as an excuse not to do work no to do work. She always gets her work in on time. Last week there was an example where she missed a test, and she came in right away and took it in fifty minutes and then left after school. She does not use it as an excuse not to do work."

"You know that's hard to say what motivates different kids to want to be successful. I know out here on the basketball court she doesn't want to let anybody down. The first couple of years if she happened to knock somebody over in the game, she'd bend over apologize and try to pick them up while we're trying to play. And out here she doesn't wan to let her teammates down. So she is constantly struggling and striving to be the best that she can be. It's just her nature! And I'm glad it is."

"I work hard because I strive to do my best at everything that I do. So by working hard, that's how you become your best. I mean it hasn't been easy. On away games and late nights its hard to do your homework, but its something you have to learn to balance and just devout your time to each. For me its always been kind of natural to be a leader because I just k now who I am and what should be done. So, I think I'm more of a lead by example leader. I don't like to call people out and I don't like t say it vocally. But I feel that if you see somebody doing the right thing or doing what your supposed to be doing, then I think everyone else should just fall in by example."

Anna is currently undecided on her major, but wants to attend Rice University.

Congratulations to Anna Norris of Rudder High School. This week's News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
