News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Erin Diserens. The North Zulch High School senior has a 3.66 GPA, and is currently ranked second in her class.
Erin was an All-State pitcher in 2011 and 2012 and was the District's Most Valuable Pitcher of the Year. Last year, she was a member of the All-District 2nd Team in basketball and a member of the All-Academic Team. She is also a member of FFA, FCCLA, National Honor Society, and she's the Student Council President. In her free time, she volunteers with Little League and Little Dribblers.
"Erin's a pretty motivated student. She does really well in class. She's usually pretty up-beat, most of the time, and she's usually motivated to learn. She's not there to just go through the motions, she actually wants to do well and be successful; which is always pretty helpful for a teacher. "
"Every time I've had a discussion with her, the only thing she ever says is 'I like to win.' I think that goes into the classroom as well, she likes to be first in everything she does; and so she'll find a way to accomplish that in whatever means she can do. Whether it be going to pitching lessons after a 3-hour practice, or like she said staying up until 2-o-clock in the morning doing all of her homework."
"Sometimes, I have really late nights staying up until 2-o-clock in the morning because I have a lot of homework and I always have to study. Sometimes I don't even get back from games until 11-o-clock at night, so it's a lot of studying that happens after sports. It's a really cool feeling to get an award as a team sport because I know it's really hard to work as a team altogether, but being an individual and people noticing the things that I do; that's a really big accomplishment."
Erin plans on attending the Texas A&M University to pursue a degree in Agribusiness and would like to become a lone officer.
Congratulations to Erin Diserens of North Zulch High School. This week's News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
