Classroom Champion - January 30th, 2014 - Kyle Stafford

News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Kyle Stafford. The Navasota High School senior has a 4.93 GPA, and is currently ranked third in his class.

Kyle is a member of the Navasota soccer, powerlifting, basketball and tennis teams; and he's a three year regional qualifier in powerlifting. Academically, Kyle's a member of the National Honor Society, and he received the Classroom Achievement Award in accounting and physics. Kyle's also the Navasota ISD Stat administrator, and he's also a announcer for Freshman and JV games. In his spare time, he also referees Upward Basketball.

"Kyle is very studious. Specifically turning in homework; and striving to get the right answer and never giving up. If there is a crutch for being a student athlete Kyle definitely doesn't use it. His work is consistently turned in on time and to high quality. He definitely definitely does not say I can't do well in the classroom because I'm a student athlete. Kyle works very hard in the classroom. He's respected of his peers, he's constantly striving to get the right answer and make sure that he's learning the content and doing what needs to be done to make the high grade.", Justin Barrett, Navasota Teacher

"Well I think he's a young man, that like I said, he wants to be the best of whatever he does. You can see that on the field, on a court, in the weight room; and you can see it definitely in the classroom. Everything means a lot to him. He's one of those young men who are going to be up here every morning around 6:30 in the weight room, getting that extra work in when he doesn't have to be up here; but he wants to be the best that he can be. He's not going to let being undersized or this-and-that hold him back. And so I think he's one of the tops out there.", Lee Fedora, Navasota High School Athletic Director

"Something I had to work on. I look around and I see the people around me, and look up to the coaches and teachers and see how they lead, and try to do my best that I can. I want to be the best I can be anywhere, no matter what I'm doing...I go out there each day and I got a job to do. If I do it, then I'm helping the team anyway I can.", Kyle Stafford, Navasota Senior

Kyle plans to attend Texas Tech University and major in Broadcast Journalism.
Congratulations to Kyle Stafford of Navasota High School. This week's News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
