News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, David Jentsch. The Milano High School senior has a 3.78 GPA, and is currently the salutatorian of his class. David is a member of the Milano Eagle football, basketball and baseball teams.
In football, he was selected All-Brazos Valley Academic selection, and All Brazos Valley 1st Team as a defensive lineman. David was also selected TSWRA 3rd Team as a Tight End and Defensive Lineman. In baseball and in basketball he was selected 1st Team All-District.
Academically, David's a member of the National Honor Society, FFA, 4-H, the UIL One Act Play, and he's also the Senior Class President. In his spare time, he plays golf and coaches the Little Dribblers in Cameron.
"In the classroom, he's more of a lead by example guy. He likes to sit back, pay attention, really analyze what's going on. When he hit the athletic field he is extremely vocal, and he wants everyone to work and push as hard as he does. Dave's got an intrinsic motivation that's very internal for him. He wants to succeed; but then he grew up in a household with parents who pushed and want him to do his best. So that he can be successful in any endeavor that he chooses outside his high school career."
"I think it was just his older brothers. We have to give them a lot of credit. II didn't have to play as much with him as I did did those two. Because they were already out there doing it; he got to see them be successful. He kind of followed their lead if you will. And I think he is probably as good or better than them because they beat him all the time. And he had to overcome the age difference...And I think having two older brothers really really helped him."
"I usually manage my time; be smart don't procrastinate. If you know you have a game and you know you have work, do the work before the game. Don't try and rush in all at one time. Just spread your time out and do what you can when you have time. What motivates me...Definitely my parents, they push me to be better. And having to older brothers who were both Classroom Champions really made me want to be great in everything I did, and I just wanted to be like them."
After high school, David plans on attending Texas A&M University and major in Agri-business. Congratulations to David Jentsch of Milano High School. This week's News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
