News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Megan Dohnalik. The Cameron Yoe High School senior has a 4.79 GPA, and is currently the salutatorian in her class.

Megan is a member of the Lady Yoe softball and golf teams and she is a twirler for the Yoe band. Her golf team placed third at State her sophomore year, fifth at State her junior year, and the team is making another State run during her senior campaign. Megan has received Academic All-District and Academic All-State honors in golf, and she placed first in the District tournament this Spring.

Academically, she is the NHS President, Student Council President, a member of FCA, a State-Qualifying twirler, a Top State Honor Band member, and she participated in UIL Prose and the Theatre Fall Production.

“I've seen Megan and her older sister, and I think it's part of their family to be a hard-working family and to have a lot of Yoeman characteristics that we have across the front of our school with integrity and ethics. Those are words that I see built in to her character. She's just been an excellent student, but more than that, I think being a mentor to the other students has been wonderful to watch.”

“I think being a very active student, Megan's able to handle a lot of things. She has very, very great time-management skills in that she knows her priorities and she knows to give herself plenty of time to study as well as focus on her extra-curriculars. ”

“I like to lead by example in many ways, in the classroom or out on the golf course. If I want to get something done, I want to do it myself first so that my teammates follow or that my classmates follow. I also am a very vocal person. If you talk to anybody, I'm very open with about almost anybody. I really like to talk to a lot of people. If they ever have any issues or anything like that I want to be a leader for them and I want to help them in as many ways as I can.”

After high school, Megan will attend Texas A&M to pursue a field in PreMed, and would someday like to use her education to work with kids.

Congratulations to Megan Dohnalik of Yoe High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
