BRYAN, Texas -- Friday night David Raffield and his A&M Consolidated Tigers will return home to host College Park. Consol is coming off a 56 to 20 win over Bryan in the Crosstown Showdown last week.
The Tigers probably won't be able to move the ball and score as easily as they did against the Vikings, they'll be satisfied with scoring just one more point since a playoff berth could be earned with a win over the Cavaliers.
"Win this week with a couple of other things happening - we'd lock a playoff berth and that's a big goal for us to make the playoffs and that's the challenge this week," said Tigers Head Coach David Raffield. "Offensively again it's going against the number one defense and you have to take that personal," ended Raffield.
Speaking of defense, it took a defensive stand by the Tigers a year ago to beat College Park on the road 35-28. Kickoff at Tigerland tomorrow night is set for 7:30.
The Bryan Vikings will be on the road this week to continue a tough part of their schedule as they take on the Lufkin Panthers one week after facing A&M Consolidated.
The Vikings lost to the Panthers 47-7 a year ago at Merrill Green Stadium.
Bryan still searching for their first district win of the season.
Head Coach Ross Rogers has a message to his to to keep them going for the final three games of the regular season.
"You play the game to win," said Rogers. "That is what we want to do. We are not giving up on winning. We have some heavy tasks in front of us but if we don't keep getting better we won't win those games so we have been working hard and trying to get ourselves in position to beat them," ended Rogers.
Bryan and Lufkin will kick-off at 7:30 tomorrow night at Abe Martin Stadium in Lufkin.
