BRYAN, Texas -- The Brenham Cubs are in the 4A Division II State Semifinals and set to take on Port Lavaca Calhoun Saturday afternoon.
The Cubs lost their first game of the season, but have won the last 13, including four straight in the playoffs.
Brenham beat George Ranch 35-6 on Saturday to move on yet again, and now they get ready for a Calhoun Sandcrab club that can really run the football.
Calhoun has three players that have over 1200 yards rushing, and according to Brenham Head Coach Glen West have the number one rushing attack in the nation.
"It feels great to go around the town and look at Christmas lights and listen to Christmas music and still be playing football, it's a special time," said West. "It doesn't happen very often in a coaches career," ended West.
"It's pretty fun, I'm really enjoying it just spending more time with the guys playing more games. Practicing and having fun," added Taylon Shepard.
"I think we just play hard, play for four quarters, definitely work hard all week and have good practices and our team chemistry is great," continued Austin Scholttmann.
"We've came this far and we don't want to stop now. We've had a great season but this isn't what we're looking for. We want more. We're always hungry and trying to get better," ended Erik Yeager.
