BRYAN, Texas -- Junior KeeKee Johnson filled in quite nicely for his injured brother, senior Bobby Johnson, running for three second half touchdowns to help Bryan hold off former district rival Belton 44-35.
On 4th and 3 with 20 seconds to play and Bryan up 37-35, Vikings quarterback B.J. Ross added a 43-yard touchdown run to put it away. Ross also had a 70-yard scoring run in the first quarter.
The game was tied 14-14 at the half.
Bryan built a 31-14 lead in the fourth quarter but saw Belton pull within 31-28 after a touchdown, an onside kick recover, and another touchdown.
Johnson's 30-yard touchdown run pushed the lead back to 37-28, but Belton answered to make it 37-35.
The Vikings improve to 2-1 and will play at Pflugerville Hendrickson next Friday.
Belton is 0-2 and visits Round Round next week.
