BRYAN, Texas -- With eight starters back on offense and eight back on defense the Bryan Vikings could make major improvements in their second season under Ross Rogers.
Logan Pottberg, Broderick Ross, and Coleman Johnson are competing to be the quarter-back to replace Chris Johnson, and whomever wins the job will have some great skill position players to work with. Wide receiver V.J. Banks is a big weapon on offense, and running back Bobby Johnson is a threat to go the distance on any play. Four of five offensive linemen are also returning, and should help the team continue to get used to a new offense.
KeeKee Johnson and DJ McCoy are poised to lead the defense, and both are among the best at their positions in the Brazos Valley. Three starters return on the defensive line, two at linebacker, and three in the defensive backfield: giving the Vikings experience across the board.
The 2013 schedule is difficult, but Bryan has some very winnable games on the slate. If the experienced returnees can help the newcomers adjust to games at the var-sity level the Vikings should win more games this season and be in the race for a playoff spot out of 14-5A.
