BRYAN, Texas -- Bryan shut down the Magnolia offense when it counted, keeping the Bulldogs off the board in the fourth quarter of a 42-28 victory Friday night.
The Vikings led 29-28 midway through the final quarter and got a little bit of insurance on an 85-yard B.J. Ross to Bobby Johnson touchdown pass. Johnson added two rushing touchdowns on the night as well.
Bryan had a chance to put things away earlier in the second half but fumbled twice inside the Magnolia red zone.
The Bulldogs took a 6-0 lead on a 50-yard Jacob Smith to Cole McGowan touchdown on a screen pass in the first quarter. Bryan answered with the first of Johnson's touchdowns, a 40-yard run.
The Vikings then blocked a punt, and Johnson's second score and a two-point conversion made it 15-6.
Magnolia rallied to send the game into the half tied at 22.
Bryan (1-1) hosts Belton (0-1) Friday.
