COLLEGE STATION, TX -- The College Station Cougars played their first home game ever at Cougar Stadium last week against Waco Reicher, but mistakes down the stretch cost the young Cougars as they suffered a 26-23 loss. College Station will get another chance Thursday night to win their first varsity football game in school history as they take on The Woodlands JV.
Despite the setback head coach Steve Huff felt like his team took a step forward last week.
"I think one thing we learned last week is definitely that our kids are very, very capable of competing at that level," said Huff.
"We played a very, very good football team last week and our kids came out and played hard and had a chance at the end, but made too many mistakes. Again we had our opportunities so we liked the way they competed last week," ended Huff.
There will be a double header at Cougar Stadium Thursday evening with the freshman game kicking off at 5 and the varsity scheduled to kick things off at 6:30.
