BRYAN, Texas -- The College Station Cougars will return home Friday night after a big win last week over Northland Christian 35-6.
The Cougars will be looking to avenge their only home loss of the year two weeks ago when they lost to Gonzales in overtime at Cougar Stadium.
Through five games this season the Cougars are averaging 43 points per game, but Head Coach Steve Huff doesn't think points will come all that easily against the Jasper Bulldogs.
"That's the key to keep the ball away from them and then try to slow the game down a little bit, something we haven't done very much this year. But at the same time it think it's important that we take care of the ball. Not give the short field position up and make them work to get the points," said Huff.
"At the same time we're going to have to work hard to get our points. It's going to be a little tighter this week to get those points so when you get an opportunity you've got to make your play," concluded Huff.
Kickoff at Cougar Stadium is set for 7:30pm on Friday.
The Rudder Ranger football team will be on the road Friday night to take on the Waller Bulldogs. The Rangers are looking for their first win of the season. Last week Rudder lost to Magnolia West at Merrill Green Stadium.
The Rangers still have four games left in the regular season. With the way the year has gone it could be hard for the team to get up for those game but Ranger head coach C.M. Pier feels his team has to keep looking ahead. "Yeah I get concerned. I would be lying if I said I didn't but the kids are giving a good effort everyday and we can't talk about the past we have to move forward on this thing."
The Rangers and Bulldogs will kick-off at 7:30 pm Friday night at Waller ISD Stadium. Waller is 1-4 on the season.
