BRYAN, Texas -- Conroe came to Bryan and ruined Homecoming for the Vikings, winning a 42-35 decision to pick up their first district win.
The Vikings forced a Tiger punt with just over a minute to play and Chris Johnson led Bryan into Conroe territory, but Auther Harris picked off a pass at the one-yard line and the visitors ran out the clock on a seven point win.
Both teams lit up the scoreboard in the first half and they went into the break tied at 28. Bobby Johnson had a pair of touchdown runs, 11-yards and 77-yards, for the Vikings.
Conroe scored the only touchdown of the third quarter, Bryan answered early in the fourth, and the Tigers went ahead to stay midway through the final quarter on a Darius Nelms 11-yard scoring run.
With the loss Bryan falls to 2-4, 1-1 in 14-5A play, while Conroe improves to 1-1 in district.
The Vikings meet A&M Consolidated next week in the Crosstown Showdown at Kyle Field.
