SHENANDOAH -- The A&M Consolidated football team beat College Park 35-28 in overtime Thursday night at Woodforest Bank Stadium. The Tigers are now 3-1 in district 14-5A play. College Park falls to 1-2.
The Cavaliers got a 14 yard touchdown run from Brett Buckley in the first quarter to grab a 7-0 lead, College Park would make it 14-0 in the second quarter on a Buckley to Charrod Henry 33 yard touchdown pass.
Consol would answer with a Xavier Jones two yard touchdown run to cut the College Park lead to 14-7. Tiger quarterback Weston Garner would score on a one yard sneak to tie the game at 14 at halftime.
College Park would get the lead back in the third quarter on a Buckley to Jayden Holden 38 yard touchdown pass. The Tigers tie the game at 21 on a Garner 23 yard touchdown pass to Derrick Dick.
Consol would take their first lead of the game at 28-21 in the fourth quarter on a Garner to Josh Stewart 35 yard touchdown pass. College Park would tie the game late in the fourth quarter on a Henry 22 yard touchdown reception. Consol would run out the rest of the fourth quarter clock.
The Tigers were on offense first in overtime. Jones would scamper 17 yards for the touchdown to give Consol a 35-28 lead. The Tiger defense would keep College Park out of the end zone. The game ended on a Jimmie Gilbert sack.
The Tigers will be back home October 26 to take on Oak Ridge.
