WALLER, Texas -- Franklin intercepted East Chambers quarterback Brandon Johnson three times and Darius Floyd scored three first half touchdowns as the Lions built a 21-0 lead and cruised past the Buccaneers 34-14.
Franklin drove the field on their first drive and Floyd went in from three yards out to put the Lions up 7-0.
Early in the second quarter the Lions scored a rare touchdown through the air, as Dylan Smitherman found Floyd for an 89-yarder. Floyd converted the two-point conversion as well to put Franklin up 15-0.
Just before the half Jacob Dorsett picked off a Johnson pass, and Floyd would cash in on a two-yard score to give the Lions a 21-0 lead.
Franklin will advance to the 2A Division I regional round next week against Tatum.
