CALDWELL, Texas -- Caldwell Superintendent Dr. Janet Cummings confirmed this morning that Bobby Jack Goforth has been hired to become the next athletic director and head football coach at Caldwell High School.
Bobby Jack played football in Caldwell from 1982-1984 for his dad Bobby Goforth.
Goforth is leaving John Jay High School in the Northside Independent School District in San Antonio to return home in hopes of adding some stability to a Caldwell program that has had 3 different coaches over the last 3 seasons.
Bobby Jack is in his 22nd season of coaching high school football which included a stop in Mexia with the last 13 seasons at Northside ISD.
Over the last six seasons he's served as the Mustangs head football coach compiling a record of 23 -37.
This afternoon he told KBTX Sports that he was interested in the Caldwell opening a year ago, but didn't apply.
"When I saw the job pop up again this year I decided to apply and see if I'm the right guy for that job."
After graduating from Caldwell High School, Goforth went to school at Baylor University on a football scholarship, playing under legendary Bears' head football coach Grant Teaff.
