Allen Academy has gone a round deeper in the playoffs every year the past three seasons, and the next step is making the state championship game. Just making it, however, is not enough. “We expect to win the TCAL Division I state championship,” said head coach Jason Jolly.
He has the right to be confident, as the Rams return some very good players that won state titles in basketball and baseball in 2013, and that winning attitude could go a long way. While Allen Academy will be strong at the skill positions, they do not return any starters on the offensive line. Jake Georgiades returns at quarterback, and John Brien and Cody Vega help him form a “Big-Three” of weapons on offense. Defensively, the line will return the most experience, and Carter Kacal will hold it down in the secondary.
The Rams season starts off with a bang against Huntsville Alpha Omega, who reached the TAPPS state semifinals in 2012. Expect Allen Academy to continue their winning ways this season and make yet another deep run in the playoffs.
