FRANKLIN, Texas -- The Lions have a lot of talent to replace, but also have a strong nucleus returning for the 2013 season.
Six starters return on offense, but the Lions will have to replace most of an amazing backfield, including 1st-team all-state running back Darius Floyd, who rolled up 2,342 yards and 29 touchdowns in 2012.
Quarterback Dylan Smitherman is back for his junior season, and he will have four returning starters back on the line to block for him and whomever takes over at halfback and fullback in the Lions Slot T attack.
Nine players that made starts last season on defense return and eight of them earned all-district honors a year ago. Four starters come back on the line, and it should be the strength of the defense.
The Lions unique running attack makes them tough to defend, and that should once again make them district title contenders with a shot at making a deep run in the playoffs.
