NAVASOTA, Texas -- Navasota overcame a sluggish first half and rolled past Willis 35-7 at Rattler Stadium Friday night.
The defending 3A Division II state champions scored first on a 57-yard Shelton Eppler to Tren'Davion Dickson touchdown pass, but Willis answered, Chris Platt returned the ensuing kickoff 85-yards to tie it up.
The Rattlers missed three field goals and a few opportunities to take a lead into the break at halftime.
Navasota took the lead for good midway through the third quarter on another Eppler to Dickson touchdown toss.
The Rattlers led 28-7 after three and added a Derrion Randle seven-yard touchdown run in the fourth for a little insurance.
Navasota, winners of 17 straight, will visit Coldspring next Friday.
Willis will host Crosby.
