NAVASOTA -- The Navasota Rattlers will face Bellville Friday night in a Class 3A Division 2 state semifinal game. Navasota is 14-0 on the season. Bellville is 11-3. Both team were impressive in their state quarterfinal games. Navasota beat west Orange Stark 38-7. Bellville beat Port Isabel 22-0.
Having the chance to play in December is big for any high school football team. Navasota senior Solomon McGinty says it feels good to be in the final four. "You go back and look at it we have been pushing each other from the heat to the cold and it just feels so good to be with people that you have played football with for so long to be in the December season playing football." Navasota junior Jordan Wells added, "We play as a team. It is good to be able to still play with them this far along in the season."
Navasota and Bellville will kick-off at 7:00 Friday night at Waller ISD Stadium. The winner will advance to the state title game to face the winner of the Graham vs Gilmer game. The Class 3A Division 2 state title game will be played December 21st at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.
