BRYAN -- The Navasota Rattlers beat China Spring 62-16 Thursday night in a Class 3A Division 2 bi-district playoff game at Merrill Green Stadium. The Rattlers are now 11-0 on the season.
Kadarius Baker started the scoring with a two yard touchdown run helping Navasota take a 7-3 lead after one quarter. Baker would throw a pair of touchdown passes in the second quarter. First it was a 49 yard scoring strike to Solomon McGinty followed by a 59 yard connection with Austin Collins. China Spring quarterback Kade Munden scored on a four yard touchdown run to cut the Rattler lead to 21-10. That was the score at halftime.
In the third quarter the Navasota special teams got on the scoreboard. Dustin Savensky picked up a fumbled punt and raced 12 yards for the touchdown. That made the score 35-10 and the Rattlers never looked back.
Navasota moves on to the area round of the playoffs where they will face the winner of the Jasper vs Groesbeck game. That area round match-up will be November 23 at Buddy Moorhead Stadium in Conroe.
