BRYAN, TX -- The A&M Consolidated Tigers and Bryan Vikings will kick off the Silver Edition of the Crosstown Showdown Friday night at 7:30 at Kyle Field.

Except for two years back in 1988 and 1989 the Vikings and Tigers have met every season since 1986. A&M Consolidated holds a 16-8 lead in the series including winning the last 7 games. Last season A&M Consolidated won 49-21.

The 25th meeting will find the both the Tigers and Vikings tied for second place in 14-5A play with 1-1 district records. A&M Consolidated coming off a road win last week over The Woodlands, while Bryan lost at home to Conroe.

Obviously the winner stays in the thick of the playoff hunt, but when "the boot" is on the line, district standings are just a bye-product.

Bragging rights is what it's all about.

"I was glad to be a little naive about the crosstown showdown last year," said second year Tiger Head Coach David Raffield. "I didn't realize how big a deal it was to our kids. A year into this I'm really excited personally, for my staff and definitely for the kids. It's a great opportunity!"

While the Tigers gave Raffield his first win in the Crosstown Showdown last season, tomorrow night Ross Rogers will coach in his 11th Crosstown showdown, but first one with Bryan.

He helped A&M Consolidated win for the first time in the series back in 1990 31-11.

Now he turns his focus to beating the Tigers and says the key is for his Vikings is to take care of the little things.

"It's all about us," said Rogers. "We've got to be better. We've got to do the little things better whether we're trying to score or getting people off on third down and long, or not giving up the big play. It's really we've got to improve as a team each week and I think our guys have bought into it and that's what we're working on."
