BRYAN, Texas -- The annual "Crosstown Showdown" will take place Friday night at Kyle Field between A&M Consolidated and Bryan.
Both the Vikings and Tigers and coming off losses last week. Bryan losing to Conroe 21-14, while A&M Consolidated was beaten by The Woodlands 24-7.
The series dates back to 1986 with a 55-8 Bryan win and last year the series celebrated its Silver Edition with A&M Consolidated winning 54-7.
It was the Tigers eighth straight win in the series and Consol is favored to win again on Friday, but the Vikings don't plan on throwing in the towel before the clock strikes zero.
"Hopefully this year we will play a lot better than we did last year," said Bryan Head Coach Ross Rogers. "They seemed to get off to a quicker start and made some things happen and we never swung back and we hope to keep fighting this year."
"The crosstown showdown is a fun time, added A&M Consolidated Head Coach David Raffield. "The rivalry has been going on for years. When I got here a few years ago everybody was talking about it but after being a part of it it really is a lot of fun and great emotions and we know we are going to get Bryan's best game," concluded Raffield.
Kickoff will be at 7:30 at Kyle Field. Bryan will be the home team and occupy the west or home sideline.
