WACO, Texas -- A&M Consolidated avenged an early season loss and a 2012 postseason loss to Austin Westlake with a 41-16 victory in the 5A Division II Area playoffs Friday night.
The Tigers will advance to face the winner of McKinney Boyd and Longview next Saturday, November 30 at 4 p.m. in Midlothian. The Boyd/Longview game is this Saturday.
The game was tied at 3 after the first quarter, but Consol dominated the second quarter outscoring the Chaps 17-0. Brandon Jackson ran for nine and two yard touchdowns to give Consol at 20-3 halftime lead.
Earlier this season the Tigers led Westlake 21-3 at the half and ended up losing 38-32. Tonight, it was a different story. Westlake drove the field and scored on their first drive of the third quarter, but Kobe Miller and Derrick Dick hooked up on a 66-yard touchdown pass to put Consol back up 17.
A&M Consolidated improves to 9-2 on the season. Westlake's year ends at 7-5.
