BRYAN, Texas -- Two Brazos Valley high school football teams raised state championship trophies in Arlington last season, two more have the opportunity to do so in 2013.

Cameron Yoe is back for seconds. The Yoemen rolled to an undefeated season and a state title a year ago, but it hasn't been as easy this time around. Cameron overcame a seven point halftime deficit to beat Hallettsville 28-26 in the quarterfinals and a 21-7 deficit to beat White Oak in the semifinals Friday.

Cameron head coach Rick Rhoades said, "We've been there before and I really think that was an advantage we had there at the end because we'd been there before. They're a great football team, goodness gracious, by far the best team we've played this year and I'm very, very blessed. Very, very fortunate to get out of this one with a win."

The Yoemen will face Wall in the state title game Thursday at 5 p.m.

The Brenham Cubs easily took care of Port Lavaca Calhoun 56-21 Saturday, but the wins haven't all been blowouts. Brenham won their first three playoff games by a combined nine points, but have won the last two by an average of 32 to reach the state championship game for the third time in program history.

"We've been wanting this since we were little kids playing little league football, going to games on Friday's, watching the older Cubs ball out," said Brenham wide receiver and defensive back Courtland Sutton. "Now we're the ones the little kids look up to. Being able to put on this show and go out and play as hard as we can every week, even though we've been doubted saying we probably weren't even going to win the first game of the playoffs, we're going now every week and getting better and better and better every day in practice."

The Cubs will need their best effort to win it all. They play an unbeaten Aledo team that has scored 985 points this season, more than any other team in high school school football history.

The Cubs and Bearcats do have state title game history, current Texas running back Jonathan Gray ran for 252 yards and four touchdowns to lead Aledo past Brenham 35-21 in the 2009 4A Division II title tilt in 2009.

Brenham and Aledo meet at AT&T Stadium Saturday at 12 p.m.
