BRYAN, Texas - The Bryan Vikings lost to Oak Ridge 36-33 Friday night at Merrill Green Stadium in the District 14-5A opener for both teams.
Bryan got a big game from running back Bobby Johnson. He scored four rushing touchdowns and had a receiving touchdown. Johnson's final touchdown of the game was a 34 yard run that put Bryan ahead 33-17.
Oak Ridge would rally after that. Kwame Etwi scored three touchdowns to push the War Eagles in front 36-33. Bryan would have a chance to kick a field goal and force overtime on the final play of regulation or go for the win. The Vikings went for the win but B.J. Ross' pass to Corey Johnson was knocked away by Tyler Marcel in the end zone to seal the War Eagles win.
Bryan will be on the road October 4 when they make the trip to Moorhead Stadium to face Conroe. Oak Ridge will face College Park that night at Woodforest Bank Stadium in Shenandoah.
