BRYAN, Texas -- Both Bryan and A&M Consolidated will kick off District 14-5A play next week. Friday night the Vikings and Tigers will take on Pflugerville Hendrickson and Lake Travis in their district tune-ups.
Bryan will be on the road at Hawk Stadium in Pflugerville looking to avenge a 43-3 loss a year ago, while the Tigers will host the Cavaliers at Tigerland Stadium in College Station after a 30-28 win a year ago on the Cavs home field .
Pflugerville Hendrickson (3-0) is tied for 11th in the latest Associated Press High School Football poll. The Hawks have only allowed 14 points all season. They kicked off the year with a 28-0 win over Rouse and then beat Leander 52-0. Last week Vandegrift found the end zone twice against Hendrickson, but lost 49-14.
Bryan (2-1) has posted back to back wins over Magnolia (42-28) and Belton (44-35).
Lake Travis (2-1) opened the season with a 25-19 loss to Judson, but have answered with a pair of wins over Canyon (20-6) and Round Rock Westwood (53-16). Cavalier running back Varshaun Nixon had 5 touchdowns in last week's win over the Warriors. He has made an oral commitment to play football at Texas A&M.
After a pair of 44-14 wins over Copperas Cove and Waco Midway to start the season, the Tigers are coming off their first loss of the season. A 38-32 setback to Westlake in Austin.
