The College Station Lady Cougars improved to 7-0 in district and 14-3 overall with a 8-0 victory over the Rudder Rangers Wednesday night.
Lady Cougar Jaylen Hinckley set a school record with 5 goals in the match, her third hat trick of the season. With twenty minutes left in the first half, Hinckley scored her first goal with an assist from Madison Kothmann. Kothmann recorded her second assist minutes later when she found Emily Guerrieri who beat the Rudder goalie to the far post. After that, Hinckley set up teammate Courtney Aleman just outside the box, who put the Cougs up 3-0. Just seconds before the halftime whistle, Hinckley notched her second goal on a nice combination play that included Lauren Spohn and Sasha Poltoratski.
The Cougars started the second half quickly, scoring four goals in the first nine minutes. Three of those goals came from Hinckley, with one assist from Spohn and two from Maddie Jenkins. Lexi Bullard also scored with an assist from Poltoratski.
The Cougars next match will be Friday at Cougar Field against Sealy at 5:00.
