College Station beats Waco Robinson 3-1, Wins Regional Quarterfinals

MUMFORD, Texas -- The College Station baseball team clinched the Regional Quarterfinals series with a 3-1 win over Waco Robinson on Friday night in Mumford.

The Cougars scored first in the third inning as Ryan Johnson hit into a fielders choice driving in Cody Staub for a 1-0 College Station lead.

Still in the third Cougars added to that advantage. Matthew Bennett hit a grounder up the middle reaching on an error as Baylor Rowlett came home for a 2-0 lead.

Same inning Cougars got one more. Pinch runner Izzy Martinez scored on a pass ball making it 3-0.

Robinson was able to score 1 but the 3-1 victory for the Cougars earned them a spot in the Regional Semifinals.
