WACO, Texas -- The A&M Consolidated Baseball team faced Waxahachie and Bryant High School of Arkansas Thursday at the Midway tournament in Waco.
The Tigers out hit Waxahachie but couldn't gain enough momentum for the win as Waxahachie went on to win 9-6. Kyle Barfield went 2 for 4 scoring two runs in the game. Derrick Dick went 2 for 2, getting walked twice and crossing the dish twice. Stephen Schlett went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and scoring a run, and Sammy Ramirez went 1 for 4 scoring a run as well. Dakota Beamon and Chase Corrington each had an RBI in the game.
James Amdor and Dayden Lane split time on the hill, and Lane got the loss. Amdor went four innings, allowing four hits, four walks, and striking out five. Lane went three innings giving up four hits, four walks, one home run, and striking out three. Each pitcher allowed four earned runs.
Consol wasn't as stout against Bryant High School as Bryant defeated the Tigers 8-4 Thursday. Bryant was four runs and one hit better on the game with two fewer errors.
Zach Smith with 2 for 4 in the box scoring two runs for Consol, and Brandon Letendre went 1 for 2 scoring a run. Austin Fowler got an RBI in the game, and Tyler Landers went 1 for 3 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI.
Both Stephen Schlett and Kyle Barfield took the mound for the Tigers for three innings. Schlett gave up three hits, three earned-runs, struck out four and walked two. Barfield gave up five hits, five earned-runs, struck out six and walked two.
Consol will play again Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Waco Midway tournament.
