COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The College Station Cougar baseball team got a nice send off to Austin this afternoon as fans wearing the purple and black gathered to see them head to the state tournament for the first time in program history.
College Station won the regional championship last Thursday, and feel like they will be more than ready to hit the field against Lubbock Cooper.
Cougar sophomore first baseman and pitcher Matthew Bennett said, "We feel really prepared. We're confident heading into our game. We just worked on what we always work on for playoff games and stuff like that and we just feel really prepared and confident heading into the game. We're very ready to play."
College Station shortstop and pitcher Walker Davis added, "We always try to come out and put our best foot forward, play the best game that we can. As long as we play like we can we should beat everyone."
The Cougars and Lubbock Cooper play at Disch Falk Field in Austin Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. The first 3A state semifinal of the day is between Argyle and Sinton at 1:00 p.m.
