BRENHAM, Texas -- George Ranch jumped out early against Brenham Saturday afternoon at Fireman's Park and never looked back as the Longhorns punched their ticket to the Class 4A State tournament next week following an 8-2 win on the Cubs' home field.

After scoring two runs in the first and two more in the 3rd, the Cubs are able to cut George Ranch's four run lead in half after an RBI double by Teddy Hoffman and fielder's choice by Rayne Richard that scored a run

In the 5th the Cubs got the lead off batter on, but couldn't do anything with it.

The Longhorns will score four more runs in the 6th and Brenham will never threaten the outcome of the 'must win game' for the Cubs.

The 8-2 loss to George Ranch ends the Cubs playoff run. Brenham lost the series opener on Thursday night to the Longhorns 6-5. Brenham was looking for its 17th trip to the State Baseball Tournament.
