BRENHAM, Texas -- Brenham returns seven starters on both sides of the ball to a team looking to not only make the playoffs, but make a deep run in the playoffs.
The Cub offensive line could be one of the best in the Brazos Valley, led by all-district selections Austin Schlottmann and Neal Mathis. Walter Thomas should be better with experience at quarterback, and has a pair of good receivers to throw to in Tyler Watts and Malik Wilson.
Linebacker will be the Cubs strength on defense, as four starters return. All four earned all-district honors last season, led by Desmond Lockett and Ja’Michael Adams. Taylor Shepard will anchor the line, and Courtland Sutton and Earnest Patterson return to lead the secondary.
The Cubs will have a target on their backs again this season, and look to be the favorites to win another district championship. The November 1 game at Huntsville may decide the title, but, win or lose, the Cubs should return to the playoffs once again.
